History of Grants To You

Paul Baskin founded Grants To You (formerly Grants For You) in 2001 in order to utilize the untapped talent and availability of primarily senior citizens and students to help their favorite, local nonprofit with their never ending quest for funds by assisting them with their grant research and writing. Since that time, GTU has grown from two chapters to 20 located in the States of New York, Florida, Indiana, Georgia, California, Oklahoma, Ohio, Delaware, North Carolina and Arizona. Volunteer graduates have helped to win over $1,000,000 for local agencies they have selected. Grants To You became a nonprofit corporation in good standing in the State of Arizona under the name The Lifespan Foundation dba Grants To You. GTU chapters operate independently under the guidelines provided during their formation process. Each chapter has its own Advisory Council made up of local citizens who have an interest in supporting nonprofit activities.

Vision

To utilize the untapped talent and availability of senior citizens, students and other motivated, computer comfortable citizens to help THEIR FAVORITE NONPROFIT AGENCY in their never ending quest for funds by assisting them in grant writing and research. Our senior citizen volunteers are able to utilize their education and experience, leave Judge Judy far behind and lead more fulfilling lives while our student volunteers can earn "Community Service Credits" as well as sharpen their resumes and research and writing skill sets.

Mission

Through GTU's local chapters and our online class, provide very low cost volunteer grant writing and education classes to primarily senior citizens, students and other motivated citizens who are computer comfortable, have a strong interest in supporting their community and who will designate a particular local nonprofit agency to assist in their grant research and writing efforts. For seniors it's all about fulfillment and giving back, for students it about Community Service Credits, helping their favorite, local organization and the sharpening of their skill sets.

Goals

  • Continue to expand the number of GTU chapters throughout the United States that will provide volunteer grant training by offering local grant writing workshops.
  • Expand funds development efforts including grants; identify GTU volunteer graduates who would like to help. Utilize such funding in order to upgrade the GTU WEB Site, add additional online classes to support local nonprofit agencies.
  • Provide more effective support to new GTU Chapter Coordinators who are implementing grant writing and researach training to local volunteers.Implement more effective ways to get new chapters off and running. Create a new chapter Greeting Package.
  • Expand marketing efforts to enable us to establish more chapters and hype our newly launched online grants class.
  • Grow the Board of Directors of Grants To You to include members who reside outside the Arizona area.
